Two Roads Diverge

One can follow the way things are or try to do something new. Something better. This blog is intended for those that want a better system of housing. Containerization revolutionized the shipping world, and I want to bring the same concepts to housing. This will be a chronicle of my journey to make that a reality. I invite anyone interested to come with me. But don't follow. Forge ahead.

Container-based housing is not a new concept, nor am I the first one to think of it (though I have been thinking of it for quite a while). Most of the current ideas are to use containers as a construction material. This is a great idea, but doesn't fundamentally change anything. If the containers can be left structurally intact, they can still be moved at will. One could move across an ocean and reconstruct their house (with all their stuff still inside) at a new location.

I am currently in the research phase for my own container house. I plan for it to be fully mobile, on a trailer, attached to a truck. Functionally similar to an RV, but better. I'll need a number of skills including commercial trucking, welding, plumbing, electrical and eventually oceanic shipping, structural engineering, and probably things that I don't even know I'm lacking. I intend to use this blog to record my progress, to recruit help and to help others, and as a repository of knowledge in the field of containerized living.

I welcome comments and suggestions for posts.
